After torrential rain, does all the potassium leach?
Doug Karcher has the best wetting agent photos.
It’s fun to evaluate wetting agent trials in late summer. No plot plan needed to pick out untreated controls. pic.twitter.com/2IqmOho1TJ

Golf telecasts in Japan—at least the KBC telecast—prominently feature the golf course superintendent, the course, and the grass types:
Becky Grubbs showed some grasses establish fast and some grow slow:
The low-input NTEP trial that @reagan_hejl put in is coming along nicely. Always neat to see the differences in establishment rates across different species. Big differences here between bermuda, zoysia, and native turfgrass varieties. pic.twitter.com/oTvHfY9veX

A turfhack to find the soil temperature without actually measuring it.

18 holes of suspended terror set in the sky: Lost ball or 6 feet from the pin? You're never quite sure.
10 (!) hole crossings, blindness and Par 3's played into a bronze age fort. Unique. pic.twitter.com/skZD2GSVPs

More about Japan golf, from the KBC archives, check out the gallery in this video from 45 years ago. The automatic translation says “A gallery flooded with green as if it were a lawless area!”

Tom Calder getting good results in efficiency and in favoring bent over Poa using ClipVol and MLSN:
I'd say still a way to go to get down to #MLSN levels, emptying boxes after 2 to 3 greens. Greens performing as well as ever, will be less than 2#/1000ft2 N this season. Poa weak and bent taking over. Also 0# of anything to fairways in 3 years bent very happy. @asianturfgrass pic.twitter.com/9i4NIrEGoS

Wang et al. wrote about research at Rutgers showing the season of topdressing application influences anthracnose of Poa annua. From the abstract: “Golf turf managers should recognize that autumn topdressing will aid in anthracnose suppression; however, spring applications are more effective when anthracnose is the management objective.”
The Hamilton GC Course Maintenance blog had a post about decreasing organic matter without coring.
Carl Schimenti and I had various discussions about ball reaction on greens:
Yesterday @Carl_Schimenti asked about ball reaction when landing on the green. This and the next video are mid to short irons from the fairway on a flat shot with negligible wind. pic.twitter.com/b6jFPuEAqu

Bier et al. wrote this article showing more than enough K was supplied to bentgrass from topdressing sand, with no supplemental K required as fertilizer.
Jason Haines wrote this:
The one thing I wish all golfers would understand is that greenkeepers do the best they can EVERY DAY with the resources, weather, and circumstances they are dealt. We NEVER come in and say "just half ass it today guys"

John Reitman wrote about Tom Samples and his great advice about lifelong learning.
Schlossberg et al. wrote about the important reduction in NH3 losses achieved by treating urea fertilizer with urease-inhibiting additives.
I usually write 50 to 100 new posts on the ATC blog each year. If you would like to get an e-mail containing each new post, you can sign up here.
If you would like to subscribe to the ATC updates mailing list, that is sent about 6 times a year with just the highlights.
Did you know there is a MLSN newsletter list, also sent about 6 times a year?
